Boracay is one of the many small islands in the Philippines, with 7km long and 1km wide, its located in the Western Visayas area, approximately 315kilometres southern of Manila and 2kilometres from the northwest tip of Panay Island.

As of February 2016 census Boracay has a population of 32,267. The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak in the municipality of Malay, Aklan Province. Apart from its white sand beaches, Boracay is also famous for being one of the world's top destinations for tourism and relaxation.

Boracay was awarded as the 2012 Best Island in the World by the international travel magazine Travel + Leisure. In 2014, the resort island is at the top of the "Best Islands in the World" list published by the international magazine Condé Nast Traveler. In 2016, the place headed the magazine's list of "Top 10 destinations to watch". In April 2018, the Philippine Government decreed a 6-month closure of the island for tourists to undertake major renovation works, especially of the sewage system, which had become obsolete and insufficient. Coron is the third-largest island in the Calamian Islands located in the northern Palawan district in the Philippines. The island is a part of the larger municipality of the same name. It is about 170 nautical miles southwest of Manila.


Coron is known for several Japanese shipwrecks from World War II vintages due to its unique ecological features of the entire area. The area is highly protected by several legal proclamations. The island itself and the surrounding fishing grounds are part of the ancestral domain of the indigenous Tagbanwa people, officially designated on June 5, 1998. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is one of the highly protected areas in the Philippines. The park is located within the area of Saint Paul Mountain Range on the western coast of the island of Palawan, it is about 80kilometres north of the city centre of Puerto Princesa.
